The Christmas Tree Needs Batteries
On Sunday we got our real (always real) Christmas tree. We spent the second half of the day decorating it.
The next morning, Aiden woke up, and, being only two years old, he had forgotten about the tree.
Sensing his excitement, I said, “Aiden, watch this.” In the early morning darkness, I flipped on the switch. All those lights produced a satisfying, “Ooooh” from Aiden.
After a brief pause, Aiden said, “Needs batteries, Christmas tree. Not turning.”
Israel was just entering the room at that moment, so I translated for him what I was pretty sure I just heard Aiden say, “Aiden says the Christmas tree needs batteries because it’s not turning.”
Aiden confirmed my understanding, “YEP!”
