Bring Back The Old, Out With The New

Last year was the first year I can remember that I didn’t write up any New Year’s Resolutions. I do remember that I began the year with the intent to try some new things. I had reviewed my previous year at Thanksgiving, and the amount of new experiences I realized I had impressed me.

It was with that thought in mind that Life strapped a leash around my neck and ran me to every new experience in my path of possibilities. In March, some MOMS Club experiences inspired in me a renewed devotion to my chapter. I already held two coordinator positions, but somehow I just felt like I had been floating down a calm river. I was ready to pull up the oars and paddle.

I began volunteering for every committee and assignment that came available. Just when I realized I had taken on too much, I was nominated to be on the board. This particular position oversaw areas I had never tackled before. Here was my chance to try something new! I accepted the nomination and attained the position.

Right after that, the region chose our chapter to chair the statewide luncheon for 300 women, and we needed a Chair Person. Now THIS was something new for me. I would definitely stretch myself with this task. So I took it.

Not long after that my husband discovered the wonderful world of Podcasts, and we decided to try it out. We made some fun shows, had a great time, but there were other, more appropriate hobbies to try. Israel moved onto video podcasts, and set me up with this blog.

It’s been a jam-packed, exciting and wonderful year of new experiences. But I am ready to settle now. There was way too much going on, and I had to neglect a number of other important things. For the new year of 2006, I am going to return to my old method of writing down goals. In fact, my theme for this coming year will be to Return To The Old: Return and Enhance. The only new things I want to see are new dining chairs and a new faux wood floor. Ok, I do expect to try my skill at making a video podcast, and also learn some web-design. But THAT’S IT!

This year will be all about enhancing the things I already know I love, or have already been working on.

Return to scrapbooking, and enhance my skill.
Return to stamping and cardmaking, and enhance my timeliness at sending birthday cards.
Return to more planning time for birthdays and holidays to enhance the festivities.
Return to my blog daily, and enhance my writing and communication skills, while establishing my place in the blogosphere (you can help by sending links to your friends!)
Return to health and wellness by enhancing my dedication to exercise, meditation, and a good eating program.
Return to my children and enhance the time and quality of attention I give them.
Return to my husband, Israel, and . . . well that is personal.

So your husband’s not on top?
Wait, that didn’t come out right.
Good luck with your New Year’s resolutions.
I was never very good at making and keeping goals as a YW, and that carried over into my agnostic world. I do make lists and love to cross them out!

Interesting way to approach the New Year. They sound like great resolutions. Good luck and have fun!
